Job Title: Shipping and Receiving/Production Support Technician

Department: Shipping and Receiving

Reports To: Manager of Shipping and Receiving

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Responsible for assembling sales orders, and outgoing shipments to customers. Receiving inventory of products and ensuring that all counts and materials are correct and properly packaged/crated and labeled. Receiving/unloading incoming shipments at the dock and loading outgoing shipments onto specified carriers for delivery.


  • Operating forklifts
  • Filling out the daily pre-operational checklists on forklifts designated to shipping personnel
  • Running floor-cleaning machine in warehouse
  • Operating various hand tools
  • Keeping all tools and equipment used in a safe, clean and operational condition
  • Changing/setting up crates for production personnel (strappers)
  • Working independently with little or no supervision
  • Communicating with supervisors when non-conforming materials or conditions are present
  • Maintaining clean and orderly storage of materials and products
  • Assembling various samples/displays for marketing
  • Preparing trade show crates/booths for marketing trade shows
  • Assembling various products
  • Filling out assembly sheets on products assembled
  • Maintaining inventory levels on all products that need to be assembled
  • Packaging/palletizing various products
  • Assisting with various projects for research and development/marketing
  • Maintaining accurate counts of materials/inventory
  • Receiving and performing quality checks on inventory
  • Filling orders that are to be shipped
  • Receiving shipments that arrive at the dock
  • Unload new empty crates when they arrive and place them in their designated areas
  • Keep up/maintain tagging system on products and lean board
  • Perform weekly check of general supplies for the designated area
  • Notify supervisor when shop supplies/materials are at reordering levels
  • End of day-shop shut down procedures (shutting and locking doors, tuning off lights and equipment, etc.).
  • Effectively communicating shipping/receiving activities to applicable personnel.
  • Loading and unloading trucks and trailers.
  • Following all safety guidelines.
  • Verifying incoming and outgoing shipments to meet applicable requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Should own the responsibilities of this position which may require working through breaks or unexpected overtime.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and six months related experience.


This position requires the ability to operate a forklift, use various hand tools/gages/ measuring devices and basic math skills.


Ability to solve practical problems with thoroughness and diligence.

Ability to be decisive with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.

– It is required to lift 70 pound items by pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, and squatting.

– Placing items on or removing items from tall shelves/overhead racks.

– Standing or working on feet for long periods of time.


Exposure to moderate noise level. Protective hearing and eye wear are required when working in shop. While working in the shop, you will be exposed to high temperatures especially during summer.
